A Historic Past
Folks have been calling Historic St. Andrews home for quite some time. In fact, locally found artifacts have shown the presence of Native Americans as far back as 13,000 years ago. Since then, various tribes have continued to plant their roots here, the Cherokee and Seminole being the most prominent.
By the mid-1800s, the area had transformed into a summer town, with visitors flocking to the bay for healthy sea baths and great fishing.
Visitors interested in discovering more about St. Andrews past will love the historic walking tour. This free, guided tour begins at the Panama City Publishing Co. Museum, continuing through several of the bay’s important landmarks.
Fun in the Sun
While much has changed throughout the years, the allure of Historic St. Andrews continues to remain, thanks in part to a thriving community of shops, restaurants, and plenty of local entertainment.
Among them is the Market at St. Andrews, a weekly bazaar where local merchants display and sell their wares. Shop for unique gifts and handmade items such as jewelry, pottery, furniture and more.
Feeling hungry? There’s plenty of delicious dining options here as well. Pile on the toppings at St. Andrews Slice House or share some fresh seafood at Hunt’s Oyster Bar. Other restaurants include:
- The Shrimp Boat
