2018 Land Rover Discovery Review
The Land Rover Discovery is a versatile, tech-forward and capable SUV for drivers with a sense of adventure in the Ventura, Camarillo and Oxnard areas. To show you what we mean, the team at Land Rover Ventura broke down some of our favorite features in a 2018 Land Rover Discovery review.
2018 Land Rover Discovery Handling Capabilities
When you have an urge to part ways with the beaten path, you’re free to do so in the Land Rover Discovery. All you have to do is select the conditions you’re facing on the available Terrain Response® 2 system to achieve the best possible chassis and powertrain configuration for the road ahead.
Terrain Response® 2 driving modes include:
- General Driving.
- Grass, Gravel, Snow.
- Mud & Ruts.
- Sand.
- Rock Crawl.
This SUV also makes several full-time intelligent 4-wheel drive (4WD) systems available to enhance your capability. This includes a 4WD drivetrain with a two-speed transfer case, perfect for steep hills, off-road driving or when towing up-to 8,201 pounds behind you.
This system provides a 50/50 torque split between the front and rear axles and may work to predict and prevent slip before it happens.
Land Rover Discovery Safety Technology
The Land Rover Discovery makes several pieces of advanced technology available to keep you alert behind the wheel. Available Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Condition Monitor, for example, work to ensure a safe road trip.
Available Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist tag-team to keep you in line by detecting when you’re accidentally veering from your intended lane of travel. These two systems will issue an alert and gently steer you back on course if they sense drifting.
The available Driver Condition Monitor will also keep an eye on your condition behind the wheel and issue an alert if it senses erratic driving habits that indicate you may need a break.
The available Head-Up Display projects all this information, plus vehicle speed, turn-by-turn navigation and other important data, onto the lower portion of the windshield to keep you in the know without having to take your eyes off the road.
Versatile Interior
The 2018 Land Rover Discovery offers a versatile interior that adapts to your needs. It has enough seating for seven in all three rows, but the rear seats can easily be folded forward with the Intelligent Seat Fold feature that lets you electronically control the second-row and third-row seats using switches in the control panel or remotely from your smartphone.
When flat, you’re welcome to use the 43.5 cubic feet of total cargo space for all your umbrellas, surf boards, beach towels, coolers and whatever else you need to bring along for the ride.
This SUV also includes an available 2-zone or 4-zone climate control feature, so that all passengers can set the perfect temperature. When you reach your destination, the available Automatic Access Height feature of the available Electronic Air Suspension lowers the vehicle height by up to 1.6 inches to make it easier to enter and exit.
