2018 Range Rover Sport Review
Whether you’re hitting the road or hitting the waves, the 2018 Range Rover Sport is a good SUV to have by your side. The team at Land Rover Ventura wanted to give our Ventura, Camarillo, and Oxnard area customers a better look at how this car can benefit their everyday adventures, so we discussed some of our favorite features in this 2018 Range Rover Sport review.
Range Rover Sport Engine Specs
The 2018 Range Rover Sport makes power standard with its five available engines, including one diesel and three gas options.
If you want a smooth, progressive performance, the V6 engine is a good pick. This 3.0L V6 turbocharged diesel engine produces 254 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque.
For a supercharged experience, however, you’ll probably like the gas engines. There are two 3.0L V6 supercharged engines that provide smooth power and delivery while generating 340 or 380 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.
Drivers who want an even more thrilling ride should consider one of the 5.0L V8 supercharged engines. These generate 518 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque, or 575 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. With these engines, you’ll achieve an impressive acceleration, going from 0-60 MPH in five seconds or less.
Range Rover Sport Efficiency
The 2018 Range Rover Sport includes several efficiency-boosting features that show that this SUV doesn’t just work hard, it also works smart.
It starts in the factory, where it’s built using lightweight, sustainable materials that are 85% recyclable/reusable and 90% recoverable.
While on the road, it includes an 8-speed automatic transmission with closely spaced gear ratios. This transmission’s shift schedules adapt to your driving techniques to keep you operating in the right gear for optimal performance and efficiency.
To counteract idling and curb emissions in stop-and-go city traffic, all five engines incorporate an Intelligent Stop/Start System. It works by powering down your engine when stopped for an extended period of time, like at a light or in traffic, and starting back up again when you hit the accelerator.
They also use regenerative charging to make the most of their energy output. This technology harnesses kinetic energy from braking to charge the battery.
Driving Dynamics and Handling
In addition to providing a powerful, efficient ride, the 2018 Range Rover Sport also helps you arrive at your destination feeling relaxed and refreshed with Adaptive Dynamics.
This system monitors your vehicle movements up to 500 times per second and automatically adjusts your suspension settings for a flat, even ride. This works to put less stress and force on the body so that you experience less fatigue after long trips.
It also includes an electronic air suspension, which quickly changes the vehicle’s height to match your driving conditions. The suspension can be manually lowered by almost two inches to help you load objects into the 56.8 cubic feet of cargo space or to hitch a trailer.
The Range Rover Sport can tow up to 7,716 pounds of weight, making it ideal for taking a boat to the beach, and includes Low Traction Launch, which can help you accelerate in muddy or sandy conditions after launching your boat into the Pacific.
